Senior Real Estate Specialist
What is a Senior Real Estate Specialist?
A Seniors Real Estate Specialist® (SRES®) is a REALTOR® who is uniquely qualified to assist seniors in housing sales and purchases.
The SRES® designation is awarded only to REALTORS® who have additional education regarding helping seniors and their families with later-in-life real estate transactions.
The mission of a SRES® is to help seniors and their families navigate the maze of financial, legal and emotional issues that accompany the sale of a home.
Meet your SRES®.
Joni McCreith, Principal Broker
Thank you for the opportunity to introduce myself! Real estate has been my career for 20 years now, and I’ve been involved in hundreds of purchases and sales.
In my work with senior clients, I have helped some sell houses that have been their home for decades and others to sell complex rural properties that have been in their family for generations.
I promise to work hard for you. I have the needed knowledge, training, and experience, and it would be my joy to help you move forward toward enjoying the things in life that matter most.

Housing Options
Making the decision to move can be difficult. Choosing housing that meets your family’s current needs, and anticipates future needs, can be a challenge. Further, it can require a significant financial investment depending on the level of care desired.
As your SRES®, I can familiarize you with the various types of senior housing available in your area, and refer you to other professionals who can help you understand and compare the true costs of each option, determine which options are affordable based on your financial situation, and examine the legal contracts involved in the process.
Types of Senior Housing:
Retirement Community
Retirement communities are usually comprised of single-family homes, townhomes and condominiums, and in some cases senior apartments. They are usually designed for older adults who are physically able to care for themselves.
Skilled Nursing
Skilled nursing homes are staffed with in-house nurses, doctors, and other medical practitioners, providing 24-hour medical care. Intended for those with medical conditions or that need rehabilitiation services.
Independent Living
Independent living housing for seniors is an excellent way to maintain your freedom while enjoying the benefits of a community. Typical offerings include basic services such as dining options and regular housekeeping.
Independent living comes in many forms, from subsidized senior housing to continuing care retirement communities.
Assisted Living
Assisted living homes balance the line between independent living and skilled nursing care. This option is perfect for those needing a little more assistance. These facilities typically have on-call staff, chefs, scheduled activities & more.
Residential Care Homes
Residential care homes can be a great fit for those who want a certain level of independence, and don't require 24-hour assistance. Care homes may provide assistance with certain daily activities, such as transportation to medication distribution.
Memory Care
Memory care is a specialized housing option that creates a safe and secure environment for those suffering from illnesses such as dementia and Alzheimer’s. Offers around-the-clock intensive & specialized care.
